The drainage system should be clear and open all the time. 2. Home Maintenance is Important You should do regular fixing at home. If there is a pipe leakage or gutter clogged, you should fix this. Clean your water pipes. Fix the leakage problems. Make some high roof shelves in the home. Your house should be maintained all the time. If your home has some maintenance problems, the flood will affect you the most. However, fix every issue of the house whether pipes leakage, clogged gutters, broken window panes, or any other thing. 3. Store Appropriate Food Items You should store appropriate food items. One important thing here is do not store your food items in the cardboard boxes. Cardboard boxes will note save your food from the flood. Store your food items in plastic containers. However, again, I will suggest, do not store your food in the basement. Your food items should be on the shelves. Moreover, do not store perishable food items. Always store appropriate food items in plastic containers. Moreover, you should prepare an emergency food container. The emergency food container will help you in finding quick food items. Keep every important thing in the emergency food container. Like a knife, charcoals, matchbox, stove, non-perishable food items, water bottle, and canned foods. 4. Examine your Food Thoroughly After the Flood After the flood, do not throw out every food item. Examine the remaining food items thoroughly. The cans may have rust in them, but, still, they are able to eat. If you are worried about bacteria and contaminated water, boil your cans and tins before the use. However, do not throw out each and everything. There must be something to eat. The process of boiling food items can kill the bacteria. 5. Build your Food Storage Again
